Get answers about engine fitment, crate engines, remanufactured engines, core charges, shipping, installation and warranty from PrimeCore Engines.

A crate engine is an assembled engine supplied as a package for installation. The level of completion varies, so check whether the SKU is a short block, long block, base engine, mid-dress or more complete package.

A remanufactured engine has been disassembled and restored using a defined process that may include cleaning, inspection, machining and component replacement. The exact process varies by manufacturer and should be stated for the product line.

A long block generally includes the assembled engine block and cylinder head(s), but exact contents vary. Use the SKU’s included-components list rather than assuming every long block is configured the same way.

The terms are sometimes used loosely in the market. Rather than relying on the label alone, compare the actual process, replaced components, machining standards, testing and warranty for the engine you are considering.

Installation eligibility depends on the warranty and product instructions. Some products may require a professional or documented installation procedure. Review the applicable policy before ordering

Applicable warranty coverage should be displayed on the product page. Terms can vary by product, application and manufacturer.

Usually a commercial repair facility is a practical freight destination, subject to PrimeCore’s shipping coverage and carrier requirements.

A core charge is tied to return of an eligible old engine. The charge, return deadline, freight responsibility and inspection criteria should be shown on the product page.

Start with year, make, model and engine, then verify VIN or engine code and any product-specific qualifiers. If the listing is ambiguous, request fitment review before ordering.

The VIN can help identify engine and vehicle configuration details that are not obvious from the model name alone. Some applications require additional codes or production information.

A short block generally contains the lower rotating assembly in the engine block and normally does not include complete cylinder heads. Exact contents vary by supplier.

On many vehicles, the 8th character of the VIN is used as an engine identifier. It is not universal by itself, so match it to the application data for your vehicle.

The installer should inspect all supporting systems and follow the engine supplier’s required replacement list. Cooling-system contamination, oiling issues, intake debris or failed supporting components can damage a replacement engine.

Lead time and transit time are separate. Each product page should show the latest estimated preparation/build time, while carrier transit begins after pickup.

Most engines ship by freight on a pallet or in a crate. Delivery requirements differ from ordinary parcel service, especially for residential addresses.
